The National Indian Youth Council/Native American Professional Advancement Center (NIYC/NPAC) is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a unified organization, we are committed to serving urban Native communities in Albuquerque, Farmington, and Gallup through advocacy, education, and professional development.

 

About Us

NIYC/NPAC is dedicated to uplifting Native voices and strengthening tribal communities by supporting leadership development, cultural preservation, career advancement, and economic self-sufficiency. Our work focuses on addressing the unique needs of Native individuals living in urban areas, providing resources and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

 

Board Member Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and governance to support the mission and vision of NIYC/NPAC.
  • Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual and in-person options available).
  • Participate in fundraising and outreach efforts.
  • Support program development and organizational growth.
  • Serve as an ambassador for NIYC/NPAC in Native and professional communities.

 Qualifications

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to Native community leaders, educators, business professionals, legal experts, and advocates. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A commitment to the advancement of Native American youth and professionals in urban communities.
  • Experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or advocacy (preferred but not required).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A willingness to engage actively in board duties and organizational initiatives.
